Marketing on amazon
“Project Fella”, the leaked project name for Amazon coming to South Africa in 2023, has not been officially confirmed yet. Despite that, we are taking prep for Amazon very seriously here at Billie and Code!
To sell on Amazon, marketing is critical to increasing your chances of making sales. With Amazon marketing, you help increase your product visibility to attract more potential buyers.
With marketing comes strategy – even and especially with Amazon. The ultimate goal for an Amazon marketing strategy is visibility. Without visibility, you could miss out on many sales as people will struggle to find your products. Within your strategy, you need to have multiple tactics that could determine your level of success as an Amazon seller.
Here are three methods that you can keep in mind while prepping for Project Fella:
1. Amazon SEO
Just like ordinary SEO, Amazon has its own SEO (Search Engine Optimization), one of the most effective ways to increase visibility. When people search specific keywords in the Amazon search bar that are relevant to your products, it’s important that your products appear in the search results.
One of the main factors that affect your SEO is your product copy. The keywords included in your copy will affect the Amazon algorithm and how your products are ranked. You’ll rank higher in Amazon searches with SEO-driven product pages, helping potential buyers find your products.
2. Amazon PPC
PPC stands for Pay-Per-Click. Just like Google, Amazon also offers this form of advertising. On Amazon, there are three different options of ads that a business can run to increase reach.
- Sponsored Product Ads appear at the top of Amazon search results. They advertise specific products and direct people to the corresponding pages.
- Sponsored Brand Ads appear at the top of Amazon search results as well, but instead of advertising a specific product, the entire brand is advertised. These ads direct people to the brand’s amazon storefront.
- Product Display Ads advertise specific products in the context of related purchases. Have you ever noticed that tab that says something along the lines of “You might also like…”? That is a Product Display Ad.
3. Amazon Review Management
As mentioned in one of our previous blogs, Amazon really values reviews. Managing your reviews, whether good or bad, is extremely important for Amazon marketing. A good rule of thumb is acknowledging good reviews and quickly resolving bad reviews. Happy customers lead to happy businesses! Encouraging customers to leave reviews can also boost your marketing on Amazon.
Besides these three methods of Amazon Marketing, there are smaller tactics that can be utilized on Amazon. Some examples include Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing, and Website Advertising.
